On August the 20th, the new ambitious girl group “Two X” will be debuting their first single, ‘Double up’.

From the same company as Rain and MBLAQ, TWO X consisted of five members; 지유/Jiyou (23), 민주/Minjoo (22), 은/Eun (22), 수린/Surin (21) and 은영/Eunyoung (20)

Meeting the members at Euljiro (A place in Seoul), they stated, “Lets work twice as hard so it will be twice as good, that’s why we put an ‘X’ in out team name, meaning multiply.”

“To be honest, we are not like other groups with ‘refreshing’ image. Apart from being in the 20s and still pretty, we are kind of unique(?) due to our husky voices. But I think that’s our individual charm. Individuals that make us different. Hahaha.” (Jiyou)

The group’s name ‘TWO X’ is from three English words; Top, Win and One. Which, together, means ‘The best group’.

‘The best team’ has been training to a five years course within just one year.

Jiyou, the oldest member, was cast by ‘Rain’. After her graduation, she went for an audition at J.Tune Camp. Rain had chosen her after he saw her audition video. That’s how she became a trainee.

“I found out later that I was rejected but then Rain saw my audition video and told the staff to give me another chance. I was lucky.”

Jiyou sang an OST for “Fugitive Plan B” (“도망자 플랜“), a drama starring Rain.

The youngest, Eunyong, was a member of a back-up dance group ‘Crazy’ since high school. They dance for Rain, Big Bang and 2NE1. She said being on stage with Rain was a dream come true.

Surin began her career in the entertainment industry in 2008 in a movie called “Exam: Bloody Mid-Term” (“고사: 피의 중간 고사“) She was cast while walking on the street and from there, she joined J.Tune Camp and became a member of TWO X.

Jiyou is in charge of vocals along with Eun who was a football player in high school.
“I like singing but my original dream was to become a football player. When I left football, I wondered what would it be like and I listen to my friend and practice to become a singer. I didn’t know then that it would change my whole life. Music became my strength now.”

Eunyong and Minjoo are rappers. Minjoo went to Busan to go to Seoul in order to fulfill her dream of becoming a singer. She did tons of part time jobs and attended dozen of auditions. Finally, she joined J.Tune Camp. “I always wanted to become a singer since I was a child, so I had to work as a waitress in a café,” said Minjoo with a laugh.

Their debut single album, Double Up contains 4 songs produced by 이단 옆 차기 who is known as ‘the creator of success’.

The title track “Double Up” is about a woman who has some problem with her boyfriend because he wasn’t giving her enough attention.

Jiyou said, “With an exciting rhythm of electronic-sync pop, anyone would enjoy this song.”

“Ring stain” is an R&B song which highlights the voices of the members. The girls said that, “The song features our own unique voice.”

TWO X’s goal is to become like the British popular girl group, Spice Girls, but with their own unique personality.

“Spice Girls are very famous but they had their own style. If we add an element of Hip Hop then we can express every member’s personality. We would like to become a group that will remains in people’s memory.”
